BOOK A CONSULTATION
The teenage years are developmentally challenging but adolescence should be a time for fun, discovery, and feeling connected to peers and family.
I am passionate about supporting young people through their difficult emotions, and allowing them to feel heard, understood and make sense of their experiences. I collaborate with young people, enabling them to find their own voice and tap into what they want and need. Directing their focus toward their unique inner strengths and resources, helps to build their resilience and hope.
I have been fortunate to work with various age groups, and my encounters with mature aged clients only validates that earlier interventions may have made all the difference.
My hope and focus for young people is to find acceptance in their unique expression and create possibilities they cannot see yet, to know they are not alone, they can find support and connection, and feel hopeful about their life and future trajectory.

At Motivational Mentoring the focus is on improving the well-being of adolescents, aged from 11 to 18 years old. Young people today confront multiple challenges arising from developmental changes, mental health disturbances, social issues, anxiety, depression, bullying and neurodiversity that impact on their day-to-day functioning. When children are distressed and unhappy this is often felt within the family dynamic and causes parents a great deal of concern for their child’s well-being. Parents and carers seeking counselling support for their children will in turn help to enhance the family system to function in more healthy supportive ways.
Evidence and personal experience have shown that the guidance and support of a trusting, empathetic adult mentor, therapist or coach can make all the difference to shifting young people’s perspective. I primarily work with teens but understand the crucial role that family support plays in a young person’s well-being. By engaging with parents and families, I aim to create meaningful change through open communication and feedback. This collaborative approach helps tailor strategies to better support your child and the family, to have sustained and continued well-being.
I deliver an integrated and evidence-based approach that allows me to personalise therapy and interventions to your teen’s individual concerns and circumstances. My approach focuses on understanding and addressing past trauma while leveraging your teen’s strengths to overcome challenges like sadness, anxiety, depression, and confusion.
Creating a non-judgmental, supportive space enables teens to discover their inner strengths and resources. From there, we focus on setting and achieving realistic goals. This approach helps rewire their thinking and behaviour towards more positive patterns, motivating them to make empowering choices and pursue meaningful long-term goals.
Self-awareness is to have an understanding of who they are, why they behave and feel the way they do, and have the capacity to self-regulate difficult emotions and situations.
Resilience is an acceptance that there will be setbacks and bad days, but also recognise their innate ability to rise above tough situations and push through life’s challenges.
The type of connections that are enduring, and come from deeper, more authentic connections that are found with family, friends, and the community.
If your teen is struggling but wants to overcome challenges, then please get in touch to discuss how I may be able to support your teen.

A.A.Milne
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
Hi, I’m Angela and I recognize that many young people today are facing significant struggles that often affect their mental and emotional well-being.
I recall the challenges of adolescence, particularly not having someone to talk to or confide in about my feelings and experiences. Despite having friends and family around, it was hard to share personal thoughts and emotions. It was a lonely and confusing period, and I wish I had found the right support during my teen years.
My flexible and down-to-earth approach to therapy adapts to your teen’s needs, whether it’s in the therapy room, online, or taking a walk in the park, they need to feel understood and at ease to express themselves, their beliefs and feelings, and be accepted for who they are.
I have over eight years of experience working with young people. My work in high schools has included mentoring and supporting neurodiverse youth with their educational and socio-emotional challenges. I am deeply passionate about helping young people thrive, especially during times of confusion. I offer guidance and support to navigate anxiety, stress, depression, negative mindsets, addictions, and trauma.
Let’s bring vitality, energy, enthusiasm, and hope back into the lives of young people. With a heart-centred approach, I will nurture your teen’s innate abilities, foster their resilience, and build their confidence; this will help them achieve and sustain positive and fulfilling long-term change for themselves and their families.
